In case you don’t know, Westfield Green Together created a new native plant garden along the Monon Trail just north of 32.  We have assisted Washington Woods Elementary, Monon Trail Elementary and Maple Glen Elementary in maintaining their vegetable gardens.   Students from Shamrock Connections at Westfield High School come to the Sharing Garden to learn about growing your own food.

We have worked to remove invasive species from Asa Bales Park, MacGregor Park, Raymond Worth Park, Osborne Park and the Midland Trace Trail.  We have planted numerous native trees, shrubs and perennials in areas where we have removed invasives.

We have also worked with the Parks Department to lead educational opportunities for citizens.  This year we had “Gardening for Butterflies” with Bobby Kimball and “Birds, Bark and Berries” nature walk with Randy Tatum at Raymond Worth Park.  One of our members, Julia Grimmer, also showcased local citizens native plant gardens to inspire others to plant natives
